The list of candidates for the 2026 award will be systematically completed during the season based on the frequency of visits by the Athinorama jury to restaurants and taverns in the region that offer Greek cuisine and based on the evaluation of tasters. From the list of candidates, those restaurants and taverns that have been rated 14/20 and above will be awarded the Greek Cuisine Award.
Every year, the jury of the Greek Cuisine Awards indulges in a huge culinary safari from one end of Greece to the other, covering countless kilometers and nautical miles of a journey that starts from Alexandroupolis and Amyntaio and ends in Rhodes and Crete.
The members of the Athinorama jury evaluate and rate dish by dish hundreds of restaurants and taverns throughout Greece by tasting a multitude of dishes and tastes and evaluate in detail: for the traditional cuisine the quality of the raw materials, the technique of the chefs and their dexterity, and for modern Greek cuisine, in addition, the harmony and balance of flavors, the original ingredients, the tested and imaginative combinations, the aesthetic appearance of the dishes and finally the general feeling emitted by the totality of the individual elements.
